After learning the basics of Unity I decided I really wanted to try out flocking behaviour AI, so made One of the Herd as a simple 2D top-down herding game. I implemented a version of the Boids algorithm and built levels for your shepherd to herd sheep around. It was simple but worked pretty well and I was pleased with how the algorithm turned out. The most complicated part was dealing with edge cases, such as when a flock of sheep is heading towards the corner of the field. Extra rules are needed to make sure that they don't all get stuck. Electric fences added a bit of mild peril and some comedy to the game.
